About Ygro

Y Gro was incorporated on June 10, 1975 as a Limited Liability Company under the Companies Ordinance of Sri Lanka in order to carry out Relief Rehabilitation, Development and Holistic empowerment of the poor.

• The Company Registration Number is PV 1471 (Old: PVS 4245)

Y Gro obtained its registration as a Social Services / Non Governmental Organization as from June 14, 2000 under the Voluntary Social Service Organization Act.



• The Social Service Registration Number is L.11101

Working Partnerships

• In the North Western province Y Gro works in partnership with the Government’s Department of Animal Production and Health in the Dairy Development sector, Coconut Research Institute and Coconut Cultivation Board.


• In the North Y Gro works in partnership with the World University Services of Canada in providing Vocational Training and Career Services, with “Start & Improve Your Business” to provide Business Training for the poor and Accredited Training Providers Association (ATPA).


• Y Gro also works with the Consortium of Humanitarian Agencies (CHA) and some of the District centres work closely with the District consortiums.


• Apart from this, Y Gro works with District Secretaries of each working District and the Presidential Task Force (PTF) for approvals and reporting.

Working Philosophy

Y Gro is committed to live and work amongst the affected community and establish practical models. These models are then used as an educational tool to educate and empower the poor and vulnerable

Christian Ethos

Y Gro works out of a Christian ethos but does not make any distinction between race, religion, caste, class in terms of its program goals, objectives. Y Gro has a strong bias towards the poor and vulnerable.

Ygro is currently working in the Kurunegala, Vavuniya, Mannar, Jaffna, Batticaloa & Ampara Districts.
